LOLER Examinations

Stay Legally Compliant

LOLER thorough examinations are a legal requirement for all lifting equipment used at work. We're F-TEC accredited to carry them out — and we make the process straightforward.

What is a LOLER Thorough Examination?

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) require that all lifting equipment used at work is thoroughly examined at regular intervals by a competent person. For forklift trucks, this means at least every 12 months — or every 6 months if the truck is used to lift people. A thorough examination is not the same as a service. It is a statutory inspection carried out by an accredited examiner to assess whether the equipment is safe to continue in use.

Your Legal Obligations

  • All lifting equipment used at work must be thoroughly examined under LOLER 1998
  • Forklifts must be examined at least every 12 months (every 6 months if used to lift people)
  • Examinations must be carried out by a competent, accredited person
  • Written reports and certificates must be retained as legal records
  • Failure to comply can result in HSE enforcement action and invalidated insurance

F-TEC Accredited Examiner

We are accredited through F-TEC to carry out LOLER thorough examinations. F-TEC is a recognised accreditation body for forklift truck thorough examinations — giving you confidence that your examination is carried out to the required standard.

Full Written Report

Every examination results in a full written report detailing the condition of the equipment, any defects found, and whether the equipment is safe to continue in use. This report is your legal record of compliance.

Certificate of Examination

On satisfactory completion, we issue a certificate of thorough examination. This is the document your business needs to demonstrate LOLER compliance to the HSE, insurers and clients.

All Lifting Equipment Covered

Counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, pallet trucks, order pickers and other lifting equipment. Electric, LPG and diesel. All makes and models.

Defect Reporting

If defects are found during examination, we report them clearly and honestly — categorised by severity. We can also carry out any required remedial repairs to get your equipment back into compliance.

Examination Scheduling

We can help you set up a rolling examination schedule to ensure your fleet stays compliant throughout the year — no missed deadlines, no compliance gaps.

F-TEC Accredited

Our LOLER thorough examinations are carried out under F-TEC accreditation — a recognised industry standard for forklift truck thorough examinations. This means your certificates and reports carry the weight of a properly accredited examination, not just a visual check.
